GLITTER MINI SESSION DETAILS

Glitter Mini Sessions will be held on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th. There will be a limited number of spaces available.

Each Glitter Mini Session will be a total of 20 minutes, which includes time to pick out an outfit, go over a few ideas and shoot your photos. Please BE ON TIME! We will be shooting back to back sessions, so be sure to arrive at your scheduled time. We will spend the first few minutes getting ready, choosing outfits, and going over a few instructions.

You are welcome to provide your own attire/outfits, but I will have selection of adorable dresses in studio for client use. Here is a little video showing the different dresses I have available in studio

Glitter mini sessions are intended for kiddos old enough to NOT EAT THE GLITTER (2 years and up, I would recommend). We will be playing with, tossing, and generally frolicking in glitter so keep that in mind. My 10 year old daughter and her 8 year old friend had so much fun shooting the promo shots for this, and I honestly think these are so much for for all ages (including mamas!)

We will be using GOLD toned glitter, and have a dark chestnut brown backdrop. This will help you plan outfits accordingly, if you wish to come dressed and ready.

Pricing: Mini sessions will be $89, and include your choice of ONE digital image from your online proofing gallery, with the option to purchase additional images if desired. Discount pricing to purchase your entire gallery will be available. Individual images will be $55/each, and the option to purchase the entire gallery will be priced at $250 (there will be 10+ images in your online gallery). Online galleries will be delivered via digital download within one week of your session.

Baby’s First Year Photos

I adore having clients that sign up for my “Baby’s First Year” package! I get to see these little ones grow, change, and develop their personalities throughout the year, and we celebrate with a cake smash at the end! From maternity, to newborn session I get to know moms and dads, and through the rest of the year we all are in awe of how much these tiny ones grow in just one year! No matter how many babies I see grow, I am still astounded by how much their little personalities develop each time I see them!

This family opted out of a maternity session for their Baby’s First Year package, so we came up with a custom package to fit! Here are a few of my favorites from the last year! I saw this little peanut for her newborn session, two milestone mini sessions, and we celebrated the year with a fun filled cake smash! I will definitely miss seeing this sweetheart every few months!!

Gorgeous In-Studio Maternity Session

I am pretty much in love with maternity sessions! I just love making mamas feel gorgeous, getting to know their adorable families, and reveling in the anticipation of their newest arrival. My absolute favorite is when there are siblings who CANNOT wait to meet their little brother/sister. This family was all of those things! Mamma looks simply stunning, and I loved helping her choose dresses that look AMAZING on her from my studio gown collection. Big brother and big sister are so adorable, and have so much love for mama and baby on the way!

Mama rocked her dresses (all from Sew Trendy Accessories), I just love how these gowns accentuate baby bumps! We tried out my new hand painted backdrop from Shades of Jade, and I am completely in love.

June Bug Photography studio is simply perfect for Maternity Sessions, we have tons of different backdrops, and can get through tons of different poses and lighting set ups during your session. Best of all is our HUGE collection of designer and high end maternity gowns for client use! We have a closet stocked full of Sew Trendy gowns, Fillyboo dresses, Mii Estillo gowns, Silk Faeries dresses, and more!

Whether you are looking for something elegant, modest, trendy, edgy, we’ve got you! I love helping mamas style their session, and look amazing for their maternity photos!

Studio Maternity Photography Mill Creek Maternity Photographer

During the winter months, I pretty much stick with Studio Maternity sessions! As much as I love living in the Pacific Northwest, planning an outdoor photo session can be a nightmare! Our weather is unpredictable, often rainy, and super chilly from around September through June. Light is EVERYTHING when it comes to photography, and perfect light can be hard to come by in natural light (aka: outside). I have become pretty obsessed with in studio maternity sessions. Primarily because I am a control freak, and I can control the temperature, backdrop, and most importantly..the LIGHT when I’m in studio. This isn’t to say I don’t love outdoor sessions, I definitely do…but I definitely prefer the predictability and flexibility that comes with an in studio session.

A typical in studio maternity session is about an hour long, which gives plenty of time for outfit changes, backdrop changes, and a variety of lighting set ups. The studio is warm, comfortable, and best of all…you don’t have to change in an outhouse (or pop up tent, which can be a bit awkward while on location). I have a HUGE collection of beautiful gowns in different colors, styles, and sizes (check them out here https://junebugphotography.org/many-new-maternity-gowns-time-update-closet-tour/ ) I also have floral crowns, capes, tossing trains, maternity spanx…I’ve got it all!

My most recent maternity session was with the most gorgeous couple! I cannot wait to meet their little one once they arrive!

June Bug Photography specializes in Maternity photography, Newborn photography, baby photography, cake smash photography and family photography. June Bug photography is located in the heart of Mill Creek, and our beautiful studio has tons of wonderful props, backdrops, outfits, and more.

Newborn Session with June Bug Photography

Newborn sessions are such a joy, they are honestly one of my favorite types of session. I love getting to meet the newest member of your family, snuggling baby, and getting to know my amazing clients.

Newborn sessions are a completely different type of session, as we let baby run the show. I follow baby’s lead, and try to get baby nice and sleepy for those curly, sleepy poses. Some babies are alert, and don’t want to miss a thing, so naturally…we photograph baby’s beautiful wide eyes, wrap baby up snug (flailing arms and legs tend to startle baby, and can lead to a grumpy little one!) Newborn sessions are longer than my typical sessions, being between 2 to 3 hours long. We use this time to let baby relax, eat, to change baby, etc. Newborn babies tend to eat frequently, especially when they are being posed, moved, etc. during a session. We don’t rush the process! Newborn sessions are also warm. I keep the studio around 75 degrees during a newborn session (vs 70 during a normal session). This allows baby to be comfortable and cozy for those naked poses, and to be nice and toasty and sleepy.

This little man made my job easy. He was adorable, and super patient with me during his session. Fair warning, if you show up to your session with awesome tattoos…I’ll probably ask you to show them off. How sweet does this little peanut look all snuggled up in dad’s arms?! I typically photograph newborns when they are between one and two weeks old. I have found that babies tend to be most cooperative during this window of time, and have had the best luck getting both sleepy, snuggly images as well as content, awake images. If you are thinking about getting newborn portraits done, I recommend reaching out early in you pregnancy to get on the calendar! I also offer maternity sessions, and would love to get to know you during a maternity session to capture your beautiful growing belly! June Bug photography studio is located in the heart of mill creek, and we serve clients from Mill Creek, Everett, Bothell, Seattle, Snohomish County, Edmonds, Bellevue, Redmond, and more! We have a beautiful studio stocked with gorgeous layers, wraps, props, hats, outfits, headbands, and more.

Smash and Splash! Celebrating baby’s first birthday with a cake smash and bubble bath.

I *adore* cake smashes! I’ve actually started to refer to these sessions as “Smash and Splash” sessions, because we allllllways love the bubble bath at the end. I have several photographer friends who are not the biggest fans of cake smash sessions, but I am definitely a HUGE fan of the mess, celebration, giggles, and over the top fun that happens during a cake smash.

I thought I’d share a few of my tips and tricks that I use during cake smash sessions to keep the session fun, easy, and simple! Before letting you in on my secrets (kidding), I want to share a few photos from my most recent cake smash. This little dude is ADORABLE, had the most expressive eyes…and did NOT like his cake. Here’s the thing…sometimes, babies aren’t a fan. The texture is weird, it sticks to their fingers, it is SUPER SWEET, which can be a bit shocking to some littles…and it’s messy. Not all babies are a fan of the cake portion of the cake smash, but I’ve learned to embrace whatever reaction baby has to the experience!

mill creek cake smash and splash

Some ways you can prepare BEFORE your Smash and Splash session:

-Most importantly, be sure to let your photographer know if baby has any allergies, skin sensitivities, etc! Common food allergens can often be found in cake ingredients (eggs, for example, or cows milk in the buttercream) Be sure to let your photographer know if your little one has any known allergies. If so, work with them to find a cake that does not contain those potential allergens. I give my clients the option to bring their own cake, or for an additional fee, I will have a local cake decorator deliver your custom cake to the studio.

-Give baby a taste of a cupcake or cake BEFORE the cake smash. This gives them the opportunity to taste the sweet frosting, experience the texture, etc. Often, just knowing what to expect can help baby dive into the cake during their cake smash!

-Manage your expectations! Some babies don’t like cake. That’s ok! Some adults don’t like cake, we all have different tastes. I’m not going to force your little one to eat or touch something they don’t want to. We will, however, capture their approach to the cake, their reaction to the cake, and try some tricks to get them to explore the cake a bit. I sometimes pop a cheerio into the back of the cake to try to entice baby to take a pinch. I also have adorable little spoons that baby can use if they are not loving the texture of the cake.

-Bring a change of clothes. I typically begin cake smash sessions with family portraits, which means you get to have some updated family portraits done. Following family photos, I recommend changing into clothes can can be frosted. No joke! While I am photographing, it is all hands on deck keeping the birthday boy/girl from wandering off the set. We have towels, rags, etc ready to scoop baby up and keep them in the right spot…but I always advise parents wear something they can get frosting on. Because, it will happen.

-Make sure the birthday boy/girl is fed, rested, and feeling well! This makes for an amazing session! Don’t feel like you need to keep baby hungry for the cake smash. Honestly, we don’t want them eating the entire cake on an empty stomach…and hungry babies tend to be grumpy babies!

-Fill out your questionnaire with any special decor color requests, etc! This helps me get your session all set up before you arrive.

Some things we do DURING the session:

-I typically begin cake smash sessions with family portraits. I do this to give your little one a little bit of time to warm up to me, the studio, etc while still feeling comfortable and safe in mom and dad’s arms.

-I have my sets all set-up and ready to go ahead of time. Minimizing transition time keeps baby’s interest, and helps the session run smoothly.

-If baby isn’t interested in the cake, we try things like taking a piece off the back and letting baby taste the cake part (less sweet frosting). We also have forks and spoons that your little one can use if they aren’t a fan of the texture.

-If baby HATES the cake, we will photograph their approach, a few candid images..and then move on. Trying to force a little one into something they don’t want is a recipe for disaster, and we don’t want to make baby so upset we can’t calm them down for the rest of the session.

-BATHTIME! Following the smash, I typically set up a tiny claw foot bubble bath and let baby splash in the warm water. This tends to be the favorite portion of the session for most babies. This also helps get baby nice and clean following the smash. Win win! Be sure to let me know if baby has any skin sensitivities and we can leave out the bubbles!

I just adore cake smash sessions because they let your little one be the star of the show, they bring out their tiny personalities (reserved, shy, messy, outgoing, funny, grumpy) and allow baby, parents and me to share in the joy!

Time Flies Themed Cake Smash by June Bug Photography

If you follow my page, you already know I’m pretty obsessed with cake smash sessions. Celebrating such a HUGE milestone, laughing, and having fun with my clients brings me so much joy.

My cake smash set ups are typically pretty simple, allowing the birthday boy (or girl!) to be the star of the show. I have an industrial size helium tank, balloons in every color, simple banners, and a collection of cake plates available for client use. This little many had a “TIME FLIES” theme for his birthday party and cake smash, and I just ADORE how it turned out! I always say that my job is a bittersweet reminder of how quickly time flies, and this session was definitely that. I met mama and dad before baby was born for their maternity session, and they came back throughout the year as members of my “Grow with Me” package. This handsome man has changed SO MUCH since his newborn session (seriously, he looks like a different baby!) I love watching these tiny humans grow, reach milestones, develop their personalities, and I especially adore capturing these moment for my families.

This cake is made by the talented cakes and poppers, and Bobbie always knocks it out of the park with her cake designs.

Cake smash sessions with June Bug Photography typically start with family portraits, then we get a few traditional portraits of the birthday boy (or girl). From there, we bring out the cake and laugh until baby is sufficiently loaded up on sugar. Some babies HATE the cake portion, some are obsessed, but I just love seeing how their little personalities navigate this new situation. ALMOST EVERY BABY ends up finger-painting with the frosting, which I think it hilarious. Some don’t like the texture, some love getting messy. Some don’t like the taste, some try to eat the entire cake. Some are gentle, and dainty with the frosting…others sit in it. Whatever they do, I love it all!

Following the smash, we clean baby up with an adorable bubble bath. This is often the very favorite for our birthday boy (or girl!). Splashing, laughing, and celebrating being ONE.

So many new maternity gowns, time to update the closet tour

My favorite maternity gown shops had some AMAZING deals over black Friday this year…and I miiiiight have gotten a little carried away. By a little carried away, I mean I bought 30 new gowns for my clients to use. And they are all amazing! I’ve gone through my closet, and pulled any gowns that just aren’t being used and had my gorgeous friend Agostina come over and model my new gowns. I tried to model them myself with my trusty fake belly..but I was tripping over all the beautiful trains while running back and forth from my camera on a tripod and where I was supposed to stand and pose..by myself…with a fake belly on…it was comical.

Here is an updated closet tour. I’ve not posted all of my accessories, crowns, sashes, etc. but I have EVERYTHING you need to look AMAZING. Seriously. All sizes, styles, colors. Not to overwhelm you or anything!

My mamas have found it super helpful to browse my dresses online ahead of time, and then let me know any dresses they’d like to try. This gives me a chance to pull any contenders, steam them so they are photo ready, style them with accessories, and saves so much time during the session. I have listed the range of sizes for these gowns, but they are just a guideline. Most gowns are made of stretchy and forgiving material, and we can clip and garment tape as needed for a perfect fit. For reference, my model for many of these, Agostina, is a size 6 and a shortie at around 5’4″ (i totally just made up her height..i should probably ask her..)

Most of my newest gowns are from Sew Trendy

They are so well made, here in the United States, and photograph SO BEAUTIFULLY. I have also added three new Fillyboo dresses to my collection, for those looking for a more free spirited, boho look.

So, grab some coffee, sit back and take a look through my studio closet.

Newborn photos in Mill Creek, Baby boy

I KNOW that planning for newborn photos takes a lot of energy. How do I know this? Whelp, when my kiddos (now 7 and 9 years old) were newborns…I didn’t schedule photos. I *wish* I could go back in time and tell myself that I would regret not making it happen. My goal with my clients is to make the entire experience as stress free as possible, to have fun, and to create gorgeous images that you will treasure FOREVER.

I met this family several years ago for (now) Big Brother’s newborn session. I just love seeing my favorite clients as their families grow and change, and I have so much fun capturing their personalities. This little man was so chill during his session, and big brother is completely smitten with him. Big brother made sure to check on his little bro regularly, and loved his snuggle time with him.

I hold newborn sessions in my Mill Creek studio, primarily because I have so many beautiful outfits, props, backdrops, as well as my lighting set-up all ready to go. I love that my families can just show up with baby, and sit back and relax while I get to work soothing, posing, and photographing baby (and the rest of the family, of course!) Here are a few of my favorite images from this little man’s recent newborn session.

This set up is created with the help of Luisa Dunn’s gorgeous digital backdrops. His little bee snuggle sack and bonnet are handmade by the talented PaturiciPentruPitici

These next two images are both photographed on the gorgeous white wool layer (handmade by Mama Knits), but for the second image I have photoshopped him onto a digital backdrop that I created in studio. I love how versatile digital backdrops are. I can keep baby sleepy, settled while still being able to provide diverse images for client galleries. I don’t have to waste precious sleeping baby time to perfect the more elaborate set ups. I can photograph those on their own, and photoshop baby into them after the session.

I just love these family photos. They just so clearly capture the love this family has for each other. Look at baby’s content little smile while he is snuggled in big brothers arms!

Wonder woman Cake Smash! Baby’s first birthday photo session.

I had so much fun photographing this little one’s Wonder Woman Cake Smash! Mama is a fellow photographer, and a friend and we had so much fun playing together. Little Lilliana is such a joy, and although she wasn’t a fan of the cake…she needed a milk break to wash it all down!

I just adore cake smash sessions and first birthday sessions, as they are so filled with laughter and joy. It is such a milestone to celebrate baby turning ONE, and mom and dad making it through the fist year (which, let’s be honest…is filled with sleep deprivation, bodily fluids, tantrums and of course lots of love).

Cake smash sessions with June Bug Photography typically start with traditional portraits, and then we have an outfit change and bring out the cake. My studio is stocked with tons of simple banners, balloons in every color, and an industrial sized helium tank, as well as simple decorations. My style is super simple, but we can kick it up a notch if you have a specific theme you are looking for (mama brought along the wonder woman banner and crown for this session). I love to follow the cake smash with a bubble bath, and it is often the birthday girl (or boy’s) favorite part of the session. We giggle, play music, and have tons of fun in studio during cake smash and first birthday sessions. I have a huge collection of outfits, fun hats, and more for client’s to use.

Looking to book a cake smash? Shoot me an email and we will start planning a custom session just for your family! June Bug Photography studio is in the heart of Mill Creek and the studio is full of beautiful backdrops, decorations, props, outfits, and more!
