I love baby photography, I love newborns. I want to be the best newborn photographer in Snohomish! That is my new mission. 🙂 baby photography snohomish newborn photographer snohomish baby photography snohomish newborn baby photographer june bug photographyI have spent the last month or so making a transition from a photographer who does a little of everything to a photographer who focuses primarily on Newborns, babies, and family. I am feeling so at ease with this decisions, despite it being a scary thing to change things up. I have realized that I am so drawn to babies, and kids, and have decided that is where I should focus my energy.

I have not only decided to focus on photographing newborns, babies, and families…but I want to be the BEST I can possibly be. I know these moments are so fleeting, and I would love to capture lasting memories for my clients. I have teamed up with some of my very favorite newborn photographers and learned so much from them.

I reached out to a local photographer who’s work I simply adore. I really admire her images, and she seemed super nice. Guess what?! SHE IS AWESEOME! I mentored with Becky Riley (of Organic Newborn) and spent two days learning her best tricks. She is a phenomenal woman, and I learned so much from the time I spent with her! The bottom two images are from my mentor session with her, isn’t baby GORGEOUS!!

Following my mentor session with Becky, I had the AMAZING opportunity to be in the studio audience for Kelly Brown’s Creative Live newborn bootcamp. Kelly Brown is simply the most amazing person and photographer EVER. I spent a week learning from the best, and I am so luck to have had the opportunity. I just love that Kelly focuses so much on SAFETY and simplicity, both of which are so important to me as a photographer.

Here are some images of my recent work, I can see a huge growth in my work…I am proud of where I am headed!

Big brother helped me take pictures, and little bro was sooo chill! Born a week ago, at 9lbs9oz!

Curious about what a newborn session with June Bug Photography is like? Here is a rundown: My in home studio (located near Mill Creek) will be WARM when you arrive. I keep the studio nice and toasty, so baby is super comfortable and snuggly. We will start with sibling shots, if baby has a big brother/big sister. Siblings are welcome to hang out in our playroom, or visit our neighborhood park with Grandma/dad. I then move to posing baby on our beanbag. I have designed my posing flow to minimize moving baby too much, which means baby can snooze! Safety is my highest priority, and I will NEVER put your baby in a position that is potentially dangerous. Time permitting, we will then move on to a prop (bucket, basket, nest, etc.) and finish up with posing baby with Mom and Dad.

Looking to book a newborn session? Contact me ASAP! I have an entire studio full of amazing wraps, headbands, hats, rompers, props..and more! All you need to bring is baby. My newborn sessions are fun (and relaxing for mom/dad, I promise!). Safety is my top priority, and I have a streamlined posing flow that minimizes moving baby around (which means they can stay sleepy and cozy longer!). I have recently worked with some of the best newborn photographers in the WORLD, and I am so excited to put all I have learned into practice.

SOO many babies! We had THREE babies in studio last week, and I want to share some sneak peeks with you! This is baby G, and she is TINY! Born just over  6 lbs, and is now 12 days old. She was such a sweetheart, and I loved working with her (and mom). Despite having an upset tummy, she was a total gem! Newborn photography Snohomish County. June Bug Photography.

Have a baby on the way? Book your session ASAP! My schedule is filling quickly. I have LOADS of wraps, props, backdrops, and everything else you can imagine. All you need to bring is baby! :) I keep the studio REALLY warm for newborn sessions (babies are not yet able to regulate their internal temperature well…and we keep them naked for most of the session!). Newborn photos are best done in baby’s first 6-10 days. Sessions run between 60-120 minutes, depending on how sleepy/hungry baby is during the session. Safety of your little one is my highest priority, and we design the session around YOUR baby.  Newborn photography, snohomish county.

This has been the week of babies! I am editing like mad to get galleries out ASAP, but wanted to post a quick sneak peek of each of the THREE newborns I have had in studio in the last three days!! First up, this little guy. He was 8 days new as of Tuesday, and so adorable. He had all kinds of precious expressions and grunts.

I met mama a few months ago for her maternity session (she rocked it!), and I finally got to meet baby! He was a total dream for the entire session, and is beyond adorable. He smiled so much! This family was so fun to hang with, and baby made my job easy. Mom is a bit of a Legends of Zelda fan, and brought along the adorable green hat/diaper cover set. So cute!

Newborn photography is such a rewarding experience, I just love getting to know their tiny personalities. This gorgeous family met me in the studio on Tuesday. I am just loving that mom wanted to use blue for baby girl, because I NEVER get to use blue with girls, and it just looks so beautiful! Mom brought in the beautiful blue headband (I want one!), and it is just perfect. Baby girl was so sweet, and spent the majority of the session wide awake…but fell asleep for the last bit of the session. We got the perfect mix of sleepy, awake, and snoozing baby shots. Big sister is so cute & playful, and we got to hang out taking pictures while baby ate. Here are some of my favorites!

Pregnant? Just had a baby? Contact me ASAP! Newborn photography sessions are best done in baby’s first 6-10 days to get those snuggly, curly, sleeping poses. Newborn photography, snohomish county. June Bug Photography.

Newborn Photography Session, Snohomish County newborn photographer June Bug photography.

My favorite part of this job is meeting some seriously fantastic families, and getting to know them during each session. These guys were so much fun to work with, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet them! Big brother was a total trooper for the entire session, and didn’t complain at all. He wasn’t the biggest fan of being IN FRONT of the camera, but he was fine letting baby brother get all the attention for the day! Mom & Dad brought along a gorgeous crocheted blanket, hat, and booties made by a family friend. Baby boy is 4 days new, and so snuggly. He wanted to eat just about every 15 minutes, but played it cool the rest of the time.

I just *adore* newborn sessions! Have a baby on the way? Book your session NOW with June Bug photography, Snohomish county newborn photographer (don’t worry, we “pencil” in a date, but I totally understand that babies come when they please!) Come hang out & relax in my studio, while I get some amazing photos of your tiny one. Newborn photos are best done within the first two weeks after baby’s arrival. Baby is super snuggly, and sleepy during the first two weeks…and it is best to get the photos done during this window. Email me at mjenkinsphotography@gmail.com to talk more!

A sample of our props, backdrops, wraps, etc. Snohomish county photographer June Bug Photography.

I have mentioned before the I am a bit of a prop junkie. Well, I figured I should let you all have a sneak peek BEFORE coming into the studio. I have seen the “deer in the headlights” look from moms who are totally overwhelmed by all of their choices, and I want to solve that problem. I pulled out a bunch of my props, I JUST FINISHED sewing 12 buntings, and I threw together a few sample set ups for some inspiration! Take a look, and let me know if any fit your style! We can (obviously) mix & match anything seen here…and this only SOME of what I have.

I have a bunch of other smaller backdrops, but I got a little overwhelmed trying to sample everything. Have something in mind that you don’t see here? JUST ASK, and I will try my best to make it happen!

Here is a quick look at the birthday hats, ties, and bowties I have in studio. I made the ties and hats to coordinate with our buntings and Banners. Bow Ties made by the wonderful A Rose For Rae

Here is a simple, gender neutral set up. Perfect for cake smash, or birthday photos. I love the bright colors.

And a simple blue themed set up. Great for newborns, toddlers, or smash the cake sessions.

I have a ton of newborn props, and also do much of a newborn session on my beanbag…but this little blue bed is sooo adorable!!

I love the simplicity of this set up, and the bright bunting. This would be adorable for first birthday photographs, as well as a cake smash, or even a newborn. Love the gender neutral set ups!

Woodland themed bunting pairs nicely with the wood crate and green wraps. I love to pop my crawlers into crates…as it keep them from scooting away. Plus, it just looks adorable. This set up would be perfect for a newborn, a first birthday cake smash, or even a school aged little one.

Newborn prop set up

Teal and grays paired with a vintage wash basin. Perfect for newborns, or sitters. This basin is a great sitter assister. Keeps the new sitters from toppling over!

Here is one of my “go to” newborn props. My nest is so perfect for those newly hatched babies! I love how this prop can be used with all sorts of different wraps, throws, buntings, etc. to change up the look.

A grungy, edgy set up. Brick wall, torn fabric bunting, and vintage luggage on a wire crate. For bad-ass babies only.

Polka dots & deer in glasses? A timeless classic. Ha. I love the gray with this turquoise bunting. Imagine a toddler in black rimmed glasses? Great for a cake smash, birthday session, or an older kiddo!

Props, smash cake

Cowboy (or cowgirl!) themed set, with cowboy bunting and color coordinating rocking chair and stool.

Can someone let me borrow a new sitter to use this set up for? I’m in love!! I am sort of obsessed with my tiny couch, and love how nice it looks with the gray backdrop. All little girls look adorable in this one. For reals.

White brick backdrop, with CHALKBOARD BUNTING. I love with this banner, as it can be personalized for any occasion. Perfect for birthday photography, cake smash photos, newborns, and just about anything else! Also I am smitten with my new chair.

This chair is AMAZING because it works great for my mamas, as well as kiddos (and babies who are sitting). I just love how tiny it makes the littles look, and it is a beautiful chair for the bigs too!

Snohomish county photography props

For my newborn photography, I tend to use a TON of different wraps. I just love the pop of color you can add with a simple wrap. I have wraps in all colors for both boys and girls.

photography props, wraps

Knit hats, knit wraps, knit nests…I can’t get over how adorable they all are. It makes my uterus ache. I have a HUGE selection of newborn hats, newborn wraps, newborn nests…etc. in studio. Awesome.

This is about when I got lazy. Instead of setting these up, I figured you can get the idea of the different blankets I have if I just took a picture of my blanket shelf. Sorry (Not sorry). Also check out my cake stands. There are more, but these are some of them!

Blankets and backdrops

…annnnnnd here is where I gave up all together. I didn’t even set up any lighting, or even turn the studio lights off so they wouldn’t be backlit. Here is my tower of buckets, bins, and crates. Oh, and vintage luggage.

I had the pleasure of having this little guy BACK after just a few weeks! He was super chill and slept for much of the session. You might recognize him from his newborn session earlier this month…although he does seem so much bigger! Mom’s family was in town for the Holidays, and I am so glad they were able to make it into the studio for a quick family session. Family photography Snohomish county, June Bug photograhy!

The twin girls are 10 years old, and simply delightful. They brought so much fun energy to the set, and it was adorable to see them fight over who loved their baby nephew more.

Newborn Photography session, Newborn photography Snohomish County.

This little guy was so adorable! He is a little over two weeks old, but I swear he looks MUCH older. He has a full head of hair, is super chill, and makes very intense eye contact! He even smiles. Insane. Anyway, I knew I would get along well with this family when dad (who booked the session) asked if they could bring their 15 year old dog in for the session (YES!)

I LOVE that the entire family (grandma and dog included) were able to come in for the session. It is obvious that their pup is such an important part of the family, and it is only natural that he be there for baby’s newborn session!

Big sister is 3, and was so gentle with her little brother AND their pup. I just loved to watch her snuggle with both of them.

I’m not sure how she pulls it off, but mom seemed so calm and relaxed the ENTIRE time. You would think a photo session with a newborn, a 3 year old, a dog, mom & dad, and grandma might be stressful…but it wasn’t! I had such a blast with these guys!!

Melissa Jenkins of June Bug photography specializes in Newborn photography Snohomish County. I highly recommend booking your newborn session during baby’s first 10 days…that way baby will be super snuggly, curly, and sleepy.
