Bothell Landing Family Session, June Bug photography

IMG_6333 Family session Bothell Landing Family session Snohomish Family photographyHere is a recent Bothell Landing Family Session.

I just love when I get to work with repeat clients! This family is so much fun to work with, and I get such a kick out of each of their personalities. The brothers are hilarious, and spent the session trying to make their mom crazy, and little sister is along for the ride. She is so gorgeous, and EVERYONE wants to be her favorite. Here is my favorite of all of them together. So sweet.

I really enjoy family sessions, as it allows me the opportunity to capture connections between the family. Some of the images will be posed, some candid, and all of them will show the love your family has for each other.

Bothell landing is an amazing location for family portraits. There are so many fantastic natural backdrops, a beautiful wood bridge, tons of small old buildings, trees. The only downside is working around all the other families and photographers enjoying the beautiful setting!

Melissa Jenkins of June Bug photography specializes in newborn and family photography. I have many years of experience working with kids of all ages, and I enjoy getting to know my families while I work with them. It is so much fun to capture the intricacies of each family member’s personality, pretty sure I have the best job ever!

This little guy was a complete DREAM baby!! He was so sleepy and sweet, and beyond adorable. Mom is stunning, and the entire family rocked their session. Our sleepy studio put baby AND DAD right to sleep, and we had to wake dad up when it was his turn for photos!

I am hoping that by this time next year, most of my workload will be photographing newborns. I have definitely found my calling, and I just adore newborn sessions. Don’t get me wrong, I will keep doing family sessions, and milestone sessions (I LOVE THOSE TOO) but I am excited about the prospect of working while both my kids are in school during the week, and having my weekends back to spend with my family!

Welcome to the world, beautiful baby A! This tiny little princess was just soooo sweet! She loved to snuggle, and put up with me messing with her like a charm! She endured several outfit changes, lots of headbands, and hats, and kept her cool the whole time! I am so happy I was given the opportunity to work with this sweet little girl (and her Mom, Dad, and proud Aunt!) Isn’t she simply beautiful?

Family Session, 3 Month Milestone Session.

Here is a recent Family Session (ok, so not THAT recent…but I am getting caught up!)

This sweet little baby has EXTREME acid reflux, and at 3 months old, is so uncomfortable when she’s not eating/upright. We had to get creative to come up with ways to keep her content and comfortable, as she is not yet sitting on her own. Big brother was a ball of energy, and so adorable. I will admit that I haven’t sweat this much during a session EVER! Such as fun, sweet family. Here are a few of my favorites from the session:Assisted sitting, photography 3 months family photographyfamily photography3 month old milestone session

Cake Smash Session, Snohomish County Photographer June Bug Photography

june bug photography cake smashcake smash photography june bug photographycake smash snohomishbubble bath photography session I was THRILLED with this little doll’s mama contacted me about a cake smash session. I am pretty much in love with her, and she is a rockstar in front of the camera.

We had big brother join in on the cake smash, and the two of them were beyond adorable. I just love how much fun cake smash sessions are.

Cake smash sessions are one of my very favorites! It is such a fun way to celebrate a HUGE milestone (for baby AND mom and dad!!) I pretty much giggle through the entire session, and baby ALWAYS has fun. The best part? I do all the clean up.

Cake smash sessions are fun, messy, and adorable. We typically start out with typical portraits, in a cute birthday outfit. We will then strip baby down, and bring out the cake. The SMASH part of the session is entirely lead by baby, and it can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 25 minutes. Some babies gently and delicately taste test the cake before deciding to move on, some completely destroy the cake..but whatever they choose to do, its adorable. I just love how baby’s personality really comes out during the smash, and we capture every moment. I have had babies SIT on the cake, throw the cake, face plant into the cake.

Finally, we finish with a fun filled “bath” session. We clean baby up, then set up a fun bubble bath and I capture baby’s joy with the bubbles and warm water. Splashing is a must.

I love to create slideshows from the cake smash images, as it is such a great way to tell the story of the day. I hope you enjoy this little video!

DIY props – June Bug Photography Snohomish Newborn Photographer

I am a bit of a prop junkie, but I am also super crafty. Any chance I can DIY props, I do! I am feeling pretty proud of this one! While I was at goodwill last week, I found a gorgeous cream colored, cable knit sweater…for $2. I have been pretty obsessed with using neutral props, wraps, backdrops recently, and I wanted to have a great neutral option for my baskets/buckets/etc. When I saw this sweater, I knew I had to do something with it.

So, I bought it. Took it home..and then made a plan! Here is what I came up with, and I feel like a GENIUS! It’s a basket sweater!!

DIY photography props newborn It was crazy easy to make, I just cut from armpit to armpit, so I had a ring of sweater. I then folded over each end about and inch, and used a zigzag stitch to make a pocket for the ribbon (leaving about 1/2 unsewn to get the ribbon in, and for the ends to hang out).

I have a TON of baskets and buckets that this fits over. I just tighten up and tie both ends snug…and I have a gorgeous, neutral cover. I just love the texture, and the sweater at the top of my containers gives a nice, soft surface for baby!

I can’t wait to put my new invention to work!

This little guy is simply PERFECT. You might recognize mom and dad from their recent maternity session…and they are my FIRST family to try out my new “Baby’s First Year” package (that means I get to see them a LOT this year, which is awesome because they are so much fun!). Mom is stunning, and I needed a wide angle lens to get both of dad’s giant biceps into frame! Its no surprise that these two made an adorable little boy, and it was so fun to meet him. I am already looking forward to seeing them all again in the next few months. My baby plan packages include several mini sessions in between the newborn session and the culminating cake smash session at one year! I couldn’t narrow down my favorites, because I love them all. But here are a few of my MOST favorite:

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I LOVE CAKE SMASHES! I spend the entire time giggling over how adorable the birthday boy/girl is and how inquisitive they are at this age. Typically, my cake smashes happen in my studio (in Snohomish, very near Mill Creek). I usually start out with portraits of the birthday boy/girl, family shots, then move to the cake. We let the cake smash play out (sometimes baby LOVES it, sometimes not so much..) and we end with a warm, sudsy bubble bath. Smiles all around!!

Help me wish this little beauty a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She turns ONE today, and we celebrated with a giant cake smash. She was a total natural in front of the camera (mom takes AWESOME pictures of her each month), and beyond sweet. Big brothers came along to cheer her on, and they are all as sweet and handsome as could be. Such a sweet, beautiful family. Here are a few of my favorites:
