Family Photos … in the rain!
Remember the POURING rain and crazy wind we had on Saturday morning? Me too! Mostly because I was IN IT, photographing this awesome (and brave) family. The deluge started right when we were scheduled to begin our session, so we decided that since we were all there, dressed, and ready…we would give it a go! I’m so glad we did, because these images are so adorable!
Here are a few of my favorites from the session:
Mom was worried that the kiddos wouldn’t have the patience for a bunch of posed family shots, so we opted for a fun, casual, “lifestyle” session (with some posed family shots in there too). I just love how the images turned out! I have to admit that I wasn’t confident that I would get this many awesome images, as my glasses were covered with rain I couldn’t see through them! Finally, I had to take my glasses off and put them in my pocket. I had my camera wrapped up in a ziploc bag, and brought along umbrellas for the family. Their little daughter was so sweet, and kept asking “Do you have an umbrella? Where is your umbrella?!” I totally would have used one, if I had an extra arm! My fingers were prunes by the end of the session, and I am pretty sure it is the first time I have gotten wrinkly fingers from rain (and not a LOOOOOONG bath!, which I definitely needed after the session).
June Bug photographer Melissa Jenkins specializes in family photography, including newborns, babies, and kids of all ages. Studio sessions are held in my in-home studio in Snohomish (while technically “Snohomish”, we are located much closer to Mill Creek). Having an in home studio means that we can all relax a bit at make ourselves at home. I have TONS of gorgeous and creative props, wraps, outfits, hats, headbands, anything you can imagine.
